Qatar 2022 World Cup Champion, Thiago Almadafrom Atlanta United, showed his excitement at the possibility that Lionel Messi can land at some point in the MLS although he stressed that the decision on his future depends exclusively on what the Argentine star wants.

However, in a meeting with the press, the Argentine remarked that Messi has the decision of what to do with his career: “The future belongs to him and he will decide where he wants to play (…) He is the best in the world and a great person”.

Almada also shared his experience with the Argentine star during the achievement of the World Cup with the Argentine National Team: “What I experienced in those days was crazy. It is inexplicable how the World Cup turned out. What I would bring to Atlanta here is humility and a hunger to want to win something and give the club a title.”

Almada, 21, was named MLS signing of the year in 2022, but Atlanta United fell far short of expectations and failed to qualify for the playoffs after finishing eleventh in the Eastern Conference.
