A week ago the Republican representative from Texas Pat Fallon threatened to file articles of impeachment against Alejandro Mayorkas after Congress was sworn in, days after that warning, the Homeland Security Secretary (DHS) faces a resolution for “serious crimes and misdemeanors.”

According to the resolution, Mayorkas “involved a pattern of conduct incompatible with his duties” in addition to complaining that it has not managed to maintain operational control of the border.

“From day one, Secretary Mayorkas’ policies have undermined law enforcement activities on our southern border. From perjuring Congress on maintaining operational control of the border to the infamous ‘whip door’ smear against our border patrol agents, Secretary Mayorkas has shown time and time again that he is unfit to lead the Department of Homeland SecurityFallon said in a statement to Fox News last week. “His willful actions by him have eroded our immigration system, undermined Border Patrol morale, and endangered American national security. He has broken the law and it is time for him to go,” he added.

The resolution comes at a time when Mayorkas is in Mexico accompanying President Joe Biden at the North American Leaders Summit where the issue of shared immigration was discussed and where he will later discuss coordination on transnational crime with the Mexican authorities. For now, the office of the Homeland Security Secretary He has not offered comment on the resolution.

Mayorkas said Sunday, while President Biden was visiting the border, that won’t resign over his handling of the border crisis and insisted that he will be ready for further investigation by House Republicans as he continues to carry out his day-to-day responsibilities.
