Four years after the appearance of the SARS-CoV-2 or Covid-19 virus, there are many expectations and questions about the vaccine that could probably end the contagion. Although at the beginning there was speculation about its procedure, if it had any side effects against people with certain types of diseases and which of all those that went on the market was the most effective; certainly a survey stated that its acceptance was 79% in 2022.

The research was carried out by the Barcelona Institute for Global Health and the New York University School of Public Health and Health Policy in 23 countries (Brazil, Canada, China, Ecuador, France, Germany, Ghana, India, Italy, Kenya, Mexico, Nigeria, Peru, Poland, Russia, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, the United Kingdom and the United States) in each of them a sample of a thousand people was taken, to make a total of 23 thousand respondents.

The results indicated that despite the increase in the acceptance of the vaccine against Covid-19, there are still people who distrust the booster dose, 8 countries in total have increased this rate and this is due to the new variants, the misinformation, the pharmaceutical companies that make them and even in the governments. For this reason, the researchers expressed the importance of new communication strategies to counteract rejection of vaccination.

Vaccine is reliable, experts say

The coronavirus pandemic has been one of the most aggressive towards the population, it presents with symptoms of a flu or common cold, however if it is not treated in time it can affect the respiratory and nervous system. The particular thing about this virus is that there are people who can be infected and not present any symptomswhich makes the Covid spread even faster.

Bearing in mind that the pandemic has not yet ended, Jeffrey V Lázaro, one of the researchers in the group encouraged the authorities of the different countries to urgently address the hesitancy of their populations not to get vaccinated, indicated that the vaccine is a method of prevention and immunization against the virus.

One of the most alarming facts was that 40% of those surveyed stated that they were not interested in news or information about the coronavirus, much less support the vaccination policies of their leaders.

The conclusions reached by the developers of the study are that if you want to be effective in advertising about vaccination against Covid, health strategies must be renewed and the information adapted to each environment and population.

In 2021 the Pan American Health Organization also published a report on the subject. Approximately 14 Caribbean countries were surveyed on the effectiveness of the vaccine and all returned encouraging data. The conclusions reached by the health institution is that the vaccine is reliable.

The doctors surveyed and health personnel in general, do consider the vaccine as a great method of prevention of Covid-19, but to date they had warned that the knowledge of the population about where the vaccines came from makes them reject or accept them.
