After the strong controversy in which Julio César ‘Cata’ Domínguez has been immersed due to the recent party with a theme that caused controversy due to its possible apology for drug trafficking, the Cruz Azul soccer player publicly apologized and explained that the celebration was focused in a “popular video game”.

Through his official Twitter account ‘La Máquina Cementera’ he shared an audiovisual of just over a minute in which Domínguez apologized for what happened; He qualified the theme of the birthday celebration of his son Matías de él and separated Cruz Azul and Liga MX from the situation.

“In recent days, images of a family party with a theme that rightly caused outrage in Mexican society were released. Initially it was a very popular video game among young people and I took it to a laser tag show ”, he pointed out.

Domínguez continued in his statement of reasons and made it clear that it was a mistake. “I want to offer a sincere apology to public opinion, fans, my teammates and fellow players, the clubs, Liga MX and the Mexican Football Federation (FMF) for these unfortunate events,” he said.

Finally, the player acknowledged that “those images are not what Mexico needs”, which is why he promised to become a benchmark that promotes the values of Liga MX and Cruz Azul.

On January 8, the defender offered a party to celebrate the 12th birthday of his son Matías. The controversy quickly escalated on social networks when it was possible to determine from some photos and publications that the theme seemed to allude to drug trafficking. This was not well received by the fans, taking into account the latest episodes of violence that a region of the country has experienced due to this scourge.

Subsequently, Liga MX and Cruz Azul issued a joint statement in which they rejected any behavior that incites violence. However, they explained that they would give “support, training and awareness to the player in relation to this delicate issue.”
