The former boxer and now promoter Óscar de la Hoya would have decided to start 2023 with nothing to tie him to the past and according to information from the TMZ Sports portal, the ‘Golden Boy’ presented last Friday all the necessary documentation to finalize his divorce from Millie Corretjer .
This process would be taking place six years after having formally separated due to “irreconcilable differences”. The aforementioned outlet claimed to have obtained copies of the papers presented by de la Hoya in court, but did not specify which court will be in charge of the case.
The Mexican boxer and the singer married in 2001 when the fighter flirted with his foray into music. They both had three children (Óscar, Nina and Victoria).
The marriage lasted 15 years until their final separation in 2016. Before dividing their paths, De la Hoya confessed in an interview for Univision that he suffered from cocaine and alcohol addictions and was unfaithful to Corretjer on several occasions.
Although they moved away, neither started divorce proceedings, so all this time they remained legally married. Currently, the now promoter in the world of boxing found love in the former American golfer, television presenter and businesswoman Holly Sonders, with whom he began dating in 2021.
On social networks, the Mexican athlete regularly boasts of his relationship with Sounders, 14 years his junior. In one of his last posts on his Instagram, De La Hoya shared a video of the two of them on the beach. “We hope you find the sincere and true happiness that we feel,” he wrote.
