After the reduction of the punishment for pitcher Trevor Bauer for “violating the personal conduct policy”, the Los Angeles Dodgers announced last Friday the decision to dispense with their services for the 2023 season. After the announcement, the player spoke about it and said he was disappointed by what happened. Through social networks, Bauer took advantage of the media impact of the news to refer to the franchise’s decision.

“While we were unable to communicate during the administrative leave and arbitration process, my representatives spoke with Dodger leadership immediately after the decision; After two weeks of talks about my return to the organization, I sat down with the leaders of the Dodgers in Arizona, who told me they wanted me to come back and pitch for the team this year.”

“While I am disappointed by the organization’s decision today, I appreciate the outpouring of support I have received from the Dodgers clubhouse. I wish the Dodgers players the best and look forward to competing elsewhere,” the pitcher concluded in a statement.

The Dodgers will have to pay the pitcher more than $22 million for the 2023 season he won’t play. This decision comes two weeks after the Cy Young winner obtained a reduction of the sanction from 324 games to 194, which would mean an immediate return to diamonds.

However, the remaining 50 games would be discounted for the start of the 2023 season. This situation gave the Dodgers a period of 14 days to decide the pitcher’s future.

Bauer who joined the Los Angeles team in February 2021 with a three-year, $102 million contract. Later he was accused of sexual assault by a woman with whom he would have had a couple of sexual encounters, although the pitcher denied it.

After this, two more women denounced the pitcher and the MLB commissioner announced the sanction of 324 games without action in the Big Top.
