WhatsAppthe messaging app owned by Meta, recently filed a new feature that helps circumvent cuts in internet servicessuch as those registered in Iran during the protests.
The platform presented through its blog the new proxy support featurewhich allows you to connect to the instant messaging service through servers configured by volunteers and organizations of all the world.
“Today we launched the proxy support for WhatsApp users from all over the world. This means that now the people have the powersince they will be able to continue accessing WhatsApp even if their connection is blocked or interrupted,” the company explained on its blog.
The company specifically mentioned the case of Iran and recalled that in that Asian country there have been cuts to internet services that undermine human rights
“Our wish for 2023 is that there will be no more interruptions in internet services. The cuts like the ones we observed for months in Iran they undermine people’s human rights and do not allow them to receive help in emergency situations,” the app said on its blog.
He added that hope this new feature helps to those in places where secure and reliable communication is needed.
WhatsApp highlights that the high level of privacy and security that you currently provide through the traditional connection will be maintained with the proxy service.
“The proxy connection maintains the high level of privacy and security that WhatsApp provides. Your personal messages will remain protected using end-to-end encryption, which guarantees that only you and the person you communicate with will be able to see them, without intermediaries, such as other people, proxy servers, WhatsApp or Meta, ”he adds.
Finally, the messaging platform reported that this option is already available in the settings menu for everyone with the latest version of the app.
How to access WhatsApp through a proxy server
These are what steps to follow to connect to a proxy, according to WhatsApp:
-Make sure you are using the latest version by WhatsApp.
-In WhatsApp, go to Setting.
-Tap Storage & data> proxy.
-Press use proxy.
-To connect you, enter the proxy address and press Save.
-If the connection is established successfully, it will display a green tick .
-If you still can’t send or receive WhatsApp messages through a proxy, the latter may be blocked. Retry with addresses of other proxy servers.
