“After the first goal the Poles did not want to play anymore. We do the second one and I remember one of them told me how he could in Spanish ‘Don’t attack anymore.’ I think that with the 2-0 they were still qualifying and maybe they knew that Mexico was winning by two or three”, explained the Argentine.
Mexico ended up being left out of the World Cup after desperately looking for one more goal against Saudi Arabia that would give them the classification. If Argentina had been able to score more goals, the life of the Poles in the World Cup would have ended in the first round. Nicolás Tagliafico himself revealed the consequences that a broader victory for the Albiceleste could have had.
“If I score that goal, Poland is out and everything changes because then Mexico plays France. Mexico took it to France and a whole quilombo was put together and we did not come out champions ”he added.
