LeBron James, star of the Los Angeles Lakersassured that one of the objectives that remain in his career is competing with, or against, his son Bronny James and that he’s “just” waiting for the moment when he gets drafted into the NBA.
“I need to hit the track with my son, I want to hit the track with Bronny. Either with the same team or in a match against him. I don’t mean we do one on one in a match, but I would love to do something in the Ken Griffey Sr. and Junior style. It would be ideal, without a doubt”James stated in an interview with the ‘ESPN’ network.
“I ask him what his aspirations are and he says that He wants to play in the NBA, so if he wants to, he has to work for it. I’m already here, I’m just waiting for you,” he added.
‘King James’ referred to the historic Major League Baseball (MLB) game they played in 1990 Griffey Sr, at age 40, against his 20-year-old son, Griffey Jr.
Waiting for Bronny James to become eligible for the NBA, something that could happen from the 2024-2025 academic year, LeBron is launching towards the absolute record for points in the American league, currently held by Kareem Abdul Jabbar (38,397).
However, in the interview, James stressed that personal achievements feel bad if they are not accompanied by team victories. He also expressed his displeasure for the twelfth position of the Lakers in the West (18-21).
“I am part of a sub-.500 franchise (less than 50% regular season wins), but we want and I want to win at the highest levels. Breaking records in a time of defeat has never been part of my DNA.”, said.
