This Saturday the draw for the round of 16 matches of the Copa del Rey was held in which FC Barcelona came out better than Real Madrid. The Barça club will face Ceuta in the Third Division of Spain, while Real Madrid will face Villarreal, the same rival they have this weekend in La Liga.
Barcelona barely managed to get past the round of 16 against Intercity in extra time after drawing 3-3 after 90 minutes and then the match was defined in extra time with a goal from Ansu Fati. Now they will face Ceuta who beat Elche 1-0 in the last round.
Xavi, Barcelona coach, admitted that the draw was lucky for Barcelona and it is the first time that a draw has been favored by the Barça team.
“We are lucky in a draw for the first time, but we will have to show it on the field. The other day Intercity put us on the ropes”considered Xavi about this tie, which will be played at the Alfonso Murube Stadium in Ceuta in a single match.
“I have had to go to Ceuta with Barcelona several times and the trip is complicated. But we will adapt.” He explained about the cup match, especially considering that this clash will come after the Barca team plays the Spanish Super Cup in Riyadh.
For his part, Real Madrid will face Villarreal, the same rival on date number 16 of La Liga. Madrid beat Cacereño 1-0 in the last round, and this time they will have to play at La Cerámica against the Yellow Submarine.
Villarreal is seventh in La Liga and in the last round of the Copa del Rey they beat Cartagena 5-1 so it will be a game of emotions against Real Madrid.
