The inauguration of the Closing Tournament of Mexican soccer occurred with a victory for Atlético San Luis at home against Rayos del Necaxa with a score of 3-2a triumph that could be described as surprising considering the results of the Apertura Tournament where those from Aguascalientes reached the playoffs while those led by André Jardine did not go beyond the first round.
Despite the goals and the entertaining of the second half, social networks exploded against the game and sometimes jokes were made comparing the final of the Qatar 2022 World Cup with what would be a Necaxa vs. San Luis, clearly belittling the quality of this match. There were also many references to the first half where the score was even without goals.
In the run-up to the match there was a tribute to King Pelé and Necaxa paid tribute to the classic character of Chavo del 8, Don Ramón in his centenarywho remained in the history of the Rays with his mythical phrase “I’m going to Necaxa“.
