The Victoria de Aguascalientes Stadium witnessed the start of the Closing Tournament of the MX League in a match where the local Necaxa could not against Atlético San Luis that ended up prevailing with a score of 2-3 in an exciting match where those led by the Brazilian André Jardine knew how to take the advantage.

In a very even first part and a lot of study, San Luis was already outlined with a better game than the Rays and some occasions were proof of this. Dieter Villalpando, John Murillo and Juan Manuel Sanabria troubled Necaxa’s defense during the first 30 minutes and in the first 45 the rojiblancos ended up being the most dangerous team.

The second half and the goals of San Luis and Necaxa

In the second half, Necaxa was a little more determined and San Luis would not fall asleep, which is why both teams would raise the quality of the show and the goals that would add color to this opening of the Cluausura Tournament would come from there.

It was not until minute 63 when with an assist from Ricardo Chávez, Juan Manuel Sanabria managed to nail a left-footed shot from the center of the area that entered from the right side of the Necaxa fence. Sanabria gave San Luis the advantage and scored the first goal of the 2023 Clausura Tournament.

The second score would come through Léo Bonatini who with a right foot from the edge of the area put the advantage for the visit and silenced the Necaxa fans at minute 67, a few minutes after the first score.

But Necaxa was going to try to react in front of their fans and at minute 73, Ricardo Monreal’s head gave the Rays hope and put those led by Andrés Lillini by just one goal.

San Luis was going to place the third to try to leave no doubts and start with the three points and also with a hopeful debut. The Spanish Sabin Merino took advantage of the passivity of the Rayos defense and vaccinated with the final goal for Atlético San Luis. However, more surprises would come.

But the game was not going to end and Angelo Araos made it 2-3 for Necaxa at 98a reaction that would come very late and that would not materialize for the Rayos who ended up without scoring in their debut in their own stadium.

Undoubtedly a bitter debut for Andrés Lillini on the Rayos benchwhich will have a lot to review for the next game, while San Luis gets about three points that are worth gold and more considering that it achieves them on the road.

San Luis’ next match will be at home against Chivas on Friday, January 13, while Rayos del Necaxa will face León as visitors on Monday, January 16.
