Arthur Engoron, judge overseeing New York Attorney General Letitia James’ $250 million civil lawsuit against the former president donald trump, He is evaluating sanctioning the lawyers of the also magnate.

According to official documents, Engoron told Trump’s lawyers via email that “is considering imposing penalties for frivolous litigation” Collect your client’s motion to dismiss the lawsuit.

Trump’s lawyers, Alina Habba, Christopher Kise and Clifford Robert, They argued that the lawsuit should be dismissed. because the attorney general lacks standing or capacity to sue. They also echoed Trump’s “witch hunt” line by arguing that “the NYAG has carried out this crusade against everything related to Trump.”

Arguments that according to the prosecutor are “the same legal arguments that this Court previously rejected.”

“(The) defendants present the same arguments based on the same facts and the same law”it is read in the email that was broadcast by ABC News and that also revealed the response of the ex-president’s legal representatives “there was not and is not the intention to ignore or disrespect the Court or its rulings, but the fundamental principles of defense and established law require the presentation and preservation of arguments even when there is, respectfully, disagreement between the parties and/or the Court. This is the core of the adversarial process and in no way reflects any effort to disrespect the Court or impede the course of this process.”

The attorney general’s office did not comment on whether Engoron should impose sanctions.but lead counsel Kevin Wallace noted that “the manner of the arguments repeated here seems calculated to delay the process and unnecessarily divert parties and court resources.”
