A Portuguese journalist identified as Pedro Sepúlveda caused a stir and controversy after assuring on his official Twitter account that Cristiano Ronaldo’s presentation with Al Nassr surpassed the Qatar 2022 World Cup final a few weeks ago between Argentina and France.

“Cristiano Ronaldo’s presentation ceremony on Al Nassr achieved 3 billion views on 40 channels around the world. While the World Cup Final in Qatar 2022 had 2 billion views overall,” he wrote.

This tweet was seen by 3.5 million people and generated debate and controversy, since in the same publication, hundreds of users corrected the communicator. The journalist of The Sports Journal, Omar Al Raisi was one of those who explained the nuance of Sepúlveda’s information.

“This is not true. The presentation was available in 3 billion homes. But it did NOT have 3 billion viewers, either live, repeat or delayed,” she pointed out.

The presentation was available in 3 Billion homes. But did NOT have 3 billion viewers – whether that’s live, repeat or delayed.

For his part, another user gave a longer explanation that completely refutes the information from the Portuguese communicator.

“Cristiano Ronaldo’s presentation was broadcast live on YouTube and barely has 200,000 views after three days. It was not broadcast on live TV in Africa, Asia, South America and 3/4 of Europe,” he began.

“It was broadcast exclusively live in some parts of the Middle East, so where did the 3 billion figures come from? Keep in mind that the combined population of the Middle East is around 400 million and we all know that people did not tune in for the opening, even the Al-Nassr stadium was not completely filled,” he noted.

The arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo generated a huge media impact on social networks to the point that the Saudi club’s Instagram account gained more than six million followers in just a few days.
