This Friday it was learned that the captain of Cruz Azul, Jesús Corona, was the victim of an assault on the outskirts of the La Noria facilities. According to information from the ESPN network, the goalkeeper suffered the loss of about $600 dollars between cash and material things.

The outlet reported that Corona was not attacked by the assailants. The way in which the player was stripped of his belongings would respond to a method in which one of the assailants poses as a fan and stops the player on the outskirts of the training ground as if to ask for an autograph or photograph.

Subsequently, he notifies his accomplices, who wait at the next traffic light at the intersection of the Light Rail tracks to stop the player and steal his belongings.

Just as this situation would have been what happened with Corona. So far, the club and player have not publicly stated what happened. It is also not known if a complaint will be filed with the authorities.

ESPN did report that there was an internal reaction from the club and the footballers were asked to no longer stop at the main entrance in order to avoid risks. It should be remembered that almost 20 years ago the former coach of Cruz Azul, Rubén Omar Romano, was kidnapped by an armed group in that same place when he was leaving the club’s facilities.

‘La Máquina Cementera’ is focused on training prior to its debut in the 2023 Clausura Tournament of the MX League as a visitor against Tijuana this Sunday, January 8, after having been crowned for the second time in the Cup for Mexico, during the last days of 2022 , defeating Chivas de Guadalajara.
