The President of the United States, Joe Biden mourned the death of Benedict XVIthe Pope Emeritus who in 2013 resigned his position to spend his life away from the public eye.
Through a press release, Biden reaffirmed that the ex-pontiff always “He will be remembered as a renowned theologian, with a lifetime of devotion to the Church, guided by his principles and his faith.” In this sense, he recalled the words that the Pope Emeritus offered in 2008 “the need for global solidarity is more urgent than ever, if all people have to live in a way that is worthy of their security.”
He also remembered the day he made a visit to the Vatican in 2011 and they had a conversation “I will always remember your generosity and your welcome, as well as our deep conversation.”
The president who is known for his great Catholic faith ended his message by wishing that Benedict XVI would be an inspiration “May his focus on the mystery of charity continue to be an inspiration to all of us.”
“It is with sadness that I inform you that Pope Emeritus, Benedict XVI, passed away today at 9:34 a.m. at the Mater Ecclesiae Monastery in the Vatican. More information will be provided as soon as possible”, this is how the Vatican reported the death of Benedict XVI and later said through its press office that in the next few hours he will release details about the funeral rituals.
