A Out of control driver nearly runs over a police officer on the side of an icy road in Ohio on Christmas Day before crashing into his police cruiser.

The moment captured by the cruise ship’s dash cam occurred during slippery conditions on Ohio State Route 2 around 11:15 am, according to local reports.

After a Willoughby police officer responded to a car accident, he was seen standing on the shoulder of the road watching oncoming traffic when he suddenly pulled away from the road and jumped out of danger, according to footage obtained by the programs. from Cleveland 19.

Seconds later, a Toyota Tundra came speeding toward him and crashed into the rear passenger side of the police cruiser parked on the shoulder.

A huge impact can be heard in the video as the van collided, sending parts of the car flying into the air.

The truck “turned like a fish” multiple times as it returned to the center of the road before coming to a stop on the shoulder several feet in front of the officer, according to footage and the incident report.

The officer radioed that his patrol car had been “crushed” and requested another unit before adding that he was uninjured on video.

“No injuries with me, I’ll check the driver,” he said into his police radio, then yelled at the passing car to slow down.

The 63-year-old driver was not injured, although the police car sustained “disabling damage,” according to the accident report.

Police believe icy conditions were a factor in both the initial single-car crash and the Toyota’s collision with the police cruiser.

Several residents commented in a Willoughby Police Department post about the accident that State Route 2 was covered in a sheet of ice on Christmas Day.

“We passed that white car minutes before this,” a resident said. “It was a layer of black ice there!”

Others wrote that cars were “spinning all over the place” due to the slippery roadway and that “people were flying” despite the dangerous conditions.

“Route 2 was icy in places at Christmas time,” wrote another driver. “I left the highway because it was very bad.”

The driver received a ticket for lack of control and was issued a court date, Cleveland 19 reported.
