Two women who operated a network of sexual exploitation in Colombia are arrested

The Colombian Prosecutor’s Office arrested two women, one of them a National Police agent, for allegedly joining a human trafficking network for sexual exploitation in the city of Cartagena de Indias, the agency reported.

these two women recruited young people in vulnerable conditions and induced them to “offer sexual services in the Torre del Reloj sector and other sites in the Historic Center of the city,” the Prosecutor’s Office explained in a statement.

Berta Ramírez Torres would be the ringleader of this network. He used the sale of tourist packages and massages, through which gave national and foreign tourists a catalog of women who were contacted by her to provide them with sexual services. The woman allegedly obtained a commission of up to $42 for each victim.

For its part, the investigation determined that the agent Daniela Echeverry Gomez he would have recruited members of the National Police to engage in sexual activities, and the money obtained from these was shared with Ramírez.

In addition to the capture of these two women, the actions of the Prosecutor’s Office also allowed the rescue of three victims, one of them the daughter of Ramírez herselfwho would have been sexually and commercially exploited along with two young Venezuelan women.

This information was obtained through undercover agents, intercepted lines, statements to victims, camera records and other investigations, the agency added.
