James Cameron He has directed blockbusters such as “Aliens” Y “Terminator II: Judgment Day”, but those movies have many violent scenes. Now he has made it known that removed ten minutes from his most recent tape “Avatar: the way of water” because it showed gunfights.
In an interview with Esquire Middle East the Canadian filmmaker spoke about his decision to withdraw those sequences: “In fact, I cut about 10 minutes from the film focusing on the shooting action. “I wanted to get rid of something ugly, to find a balance between light and dark…You must have conflict, of course. Violence and action are the same, depending on how you look at it. This is the dilemma of every action filmmaker, and I am known as an action filmmaker.
Reflecting on his previous films, James added that if he were to do several again, it would be with a different theme and would greatly reduce the violence presented.: “Remembering some movies I’ve done, I don’t know if I’d like to do them now. I don’t know if I’d like to fetishize guns, like I did on a couple of tapes from “Terminator” 30+ years ago, in our world today…what is happening with guns in our society makes me sick to my stomach….If I were to do another “Terminator” movie and maybe try to launch that saga again, which is under discussion but nothing has been decided, I would make it much more on the AI side of things than bad robots running amok.”
