Espanyol has recently signed central defender César Montes until June 30, 2028a new Mexican soccer player who has added weight to a list of compatriots who have passed through the Catalan entity, usually leaving a good taste in the mouth at the club.

The list is formed by the footballers Diego Reyes, Héctor Moreno, Taufic Guarch, Francisco Palencia and Germán Villa. In addition, the blue and white team has also been led by Javier Aguirre and his right-hand man, his compatriot Alfredo Tena, popularly known as ‘Captain Fury’.

Diego Reyes played for Espanyol in the 2016-17 season with a balance of 35 games playedYes, 33 of them in the starting eleven. The central defender arrived at the RCDE Stadium on loan from Portuguese Porto and did not continue in Barcelona once the loan ended. He was one of the bulwarks in defense.

Héctor Moreno played four seasons as a blue and white (2011-12, 2012-13, 2013-14 and 2014-15). The undisputed starter in the defense, the man from Culiacán signed from Dutch AZ Alkmaar and returned to the Netherlands, to PSV, once his time as a parakeet ended, determined to fight for titles and play in the Champions League.

The striker Taufic Guarch is another of the Mexicans who packed his bags to dress as a blanquiazuHe, although in his case it was to reinforce Espanyol B without going to the first team. The attacker, in whom many had high hopes, spent a year on loan from Tecos in the subsidiary.

Closer in time is the stage of Javier Aguirre, together with Alfredo Tena. The coach came to the Espanyol bench in November 2012 and, under his leadership, the team avoided relegation. The coach spent one more course before definitively leaving the blue and white discipline.

One of Héctor Moreno’s best spells in Europe was with Espanyol, led by Javier Aguirre.

He is a perfect signing for what Rayados needs:

Quality
Experience
Leadership

And he is also Mexican and the coach knows him perfectly.
