Netflix confirmed its plans to build some new production facility in New Jerseyfor which it will invest $900 million dollars and in which it hopes to create thousands of jobs.

According to the streaming giant, the new studios will be located at the former military base of Fort Monmouthon the New Jersey shore, in Eatontown and Ocearport.

For construction, Netflix has already opened the portfolio, since paid $55 million to buy the land of 292 acres in which its new production studios will be built.

According to Ted Sarandos, co-CEO and Chief Content Officer at Netflix, the new project will also seeks to create thousands of jobs and boost the economy in this area of ​​the east coast of the country.

“We believe that a Netflix study can boost the local and state economy with thousands of new jobs and billions in economic production, while generating a vibrant production ecosystem in New Jersey,” the executive said in a Fox Business report. .

According to information from the New Jersey government, along with the new studies, the state administration also planned the construction of new homes, areas with hotels and businesses related to the film industry, Governor Phil Murphy said.

“This transformational investment will serve as a cornerstone in our efforts to create a thriving industry from its inception,” Murphy said.

“As a result of nearly a billion dollars in movie production spending, New Jersey will further cement its status as an emerging national leader in the television and motion picture industries,” it added.

A project that will last several years

The generation of jobs is expected to start immediately as soon as Netflix starts with the first stage of the project, which corresponds to building 12 stages of sound from 15,000 to 40,000 square feet of extension.

For this construction, Netflix explained that it considers an investment of an additional $848 million dollars.

In addition, the company’s production complex will feature additional office spaces, service buildings for productions, and studio spaces related to production activities.
