Drew Barrymore opens up about his years of alcoholism after his divorce

drew Barrymore she had many problems during her childhood and adolescence, which caused her to become addicted to alcohol and drugs. In her adulthood, the actress began a stage of sobriety, but she now confessed that six years ago he turned to drink again to deal with a personal problem.

In his recent interview with the magazine People Barrymore, 47, confessed that her divorce from art consultant Will Kopelman in 2016 proved extremely difficult, so she eased her pain by drinking: “There are times when you can look at someone you think is a strong person and see them so broken and say, ‘How the hell did he get there?’ And I was that person. I broke”.

That stage in the actress’s life was especially hard, as it was even more difficult than the relapses she had as a teenager: “I was just trying to numb the pain and feel good, and the alcohol totally did it. The drink for me was a constant, like, ‘You can’t change. You are weak and incapable of doing what is best for you. You keep thinking you’ll master this thing, and it’s getting the best of you.” Months of therapy made Drew, now sober, plan his own TV show “The Drew Barrymore show”which has been successful for several years, which for her “gave me something to focus on and distract myself from.”
