Southern California will be the hottest region in the United States on Christmas Day while the rest of the country is affected by intense snow storms and a powerful current of cold weather coming from the north.
The National Weather Service (NWS) I forecast by this Sunday in the city of Los Angeles and other areas of southern california that it could exceed 80 degrees, which is approximately 10 to 15 degrees above average for this time of year.
In other regions of the country, particularly in the upper Midwest, freezing conditions and heavy snowfall will continue as a phenomenon called a “bomb cyclone” brings currents of cold air from the North Pole.
The Rocky Mountains offer help to isolate southern California from the effects of low temperaturesbecause a high pressure system is created to the south to maintain hotter weather conditions.
The high temperatures could ease from Tuesday, when rain and cooler weather conditions are forecast.
For this Sunday, residents of Los Angeles and Orange counties can expect temperatures reaching the 80s with sunny skies conditionswhile for this Monday the thermometers could begin to register a decrease prior to the arrival of humidity in the region.
Similar conditions are expected for Christmas Day in the Valleys and Inland Empire with a temperature of 80 degrees.
For the beach areas, there will be sunny skies with a maximum temperature of 73 degrees and a swell of 2 to 4 feet.
For communities in the mountains, clear skies with highs of 60 degrees are forecast. during the day, while at night they will drop to 31 degrees.
In the deserts there will be conditions of sunny skies with a maximum temperature of 69 degrees, while at night it will drop to 33 degrees.
