Los Angeles and Orange counties will have a week with heavy rains days before the New Year

In the week leading up to the New Year, the Los Angeles and Orange counties will have days with heavy rain, according to forecasts from the National Weather Service (NWS)..

in both counties Five consecutive days with rainfall are expected from this Tuesday, December 27, to Saturday, December 31, on the eve of 2023.. After this stage, there will be one or two days with clear skies, followed by three more days with possible rain during the first week of January.

NSW forecasters also expect rain in other regions of southern California, as well as probable snowfall in the mountainous areas during the night of Wednesday. There are high chances of precipitation every day until Saturday, December 31.

For this Tuesday, in the first phase of rainfall, 1/2 inch to 1.5 inches of rain could be recorded in Los Angeles Countyand 3 inches along the slopes of the coastal mountains.

The weather phenomenon will drop rain in San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties beginning Monday night.

The National Weather Service said that timing of systems later in the week is “problematic and will likely need adjustment with later forecasts”.

“Uncertainty grows from there, as the ensemble solutions diverge in the path and depth of the short wave that follows Thursday, and additional waves later in the week, through New Year’s Day,” mentioned the NWS.

So far no winter weather advisories have been issued for Los Angeles or Orange counties, as well as other regions of Southern California.
