The Republican Governor of Texas Greg Abbott on Wednesday asked the state attorney general to investigate non-governmental organizations (NGOs) operating in Texas that may be assisting undocumented immigrants to cross the border between the United States and Mexico.
Abbott requests the investigation in at a time when there is an increase in the crossing of immigrants and in the midst of pressure so that the government of President Joe Biden does not allow the end of the Title 42 the next 21 of December, following a court ruling that authorized its termination.
In a letter to Attorney General Ken Paxton, Abbott said the number of “illegal immigrants crossing the Texas-Mexico border has reached an all-time high.”
“In fact, the last Sunday, in a period of 21 hours, more than 2,800 illegal immigrants crossed the border near El Paso and entered Texas illegally,” Abbott wrote.
In his letter to Paxton, Abbott blamed the Biden Administration’s federal border management and the activities of NGOs due to the conditions along the border that have allowed the increase in the passage of undocumented immigrants from Mexico to the United States.
The governor did not mention any non-governmental organization in his statement or in his letter to prosecutor.
“While the burden of addressing the current border crisis should not fall on Texas, the federal government has not taken steps to address this issue,” Abbott wrote.
Abbott appreciated the efforts s of Paxton in the courts to counter the immigration policies of the Biden administration and highlighted his own “Operation Lone Star”, a deployment of the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Texas National Guard to the border to prevent the entry of immigrants. .
Abbott also took aim at NGOs, which have historically filled the gap in social services provided to immigrants on both sides of the border, such as responsible for the increase in the “illegal crossings” of immigrants.

“There have been recent reports that they (NGOs) may have helped with the illegal border crossings near El Paso. Additionally, we understand that NGOs may be involved in illegally orchestrating other border crossings through activities on both sides of the border, including in sectors other than El Paso,” Abbott wrote in his letter to Attorney General Paxton.
“In light of these reports, I call on the Texas Attorney General’s Office to launch an investigation into the role of NGOs in transportation planning and facilitation illegal immigrants across our borders,” Abbott said.
“Furthermore, I stand ready to work with you to craft any sensible legislative solutions your office may propose that aim to resolve the border crisis ongoing and the role that NGOs can play to encourage it,” said the governor of Texas.
State and federal officials get ready for the next suspension of Title enforcement 54 at the border causes the massive arrival of immigrants, causing a great crisis in the United States.
The application of the Title 21 at the border began when the The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued a public health order that was intended to stop the spread of COVID- . This order allowed the authorities to expel more than 2.4 million immigrants upon reaching the US land borders and does not allow them to request asylum.
