“Let’s have a more sober Christmas, with more humble gifts, Deutsche Welle let’s send what we save to the Ukrainian people in need

. They suffer a lot, they go hungry, they feel cold. And many die because there are no doctors or nurses on hand”, he lamented at the end of the general audience in the Paul VI hall, in the Vatican.

“Let us renew our closeness to the tormented Ukrainian people, persevering in fervent prayer for these brothers of ours who suffer so much”, exhorted the Supreme Pontiff.
