A bus, belonging to a Baptist church, flipped over and lay on its side after the driver tried to turn on the left in a Northeast Harris County neighborhood, leaving 16 wounded.

According to Lieutenant Simon Cheng, from the county sheriff’s office, of the total number of injured, hay 16 children, who were assisted by the emergency teams, without reporting any life in danger.

“We are grateful that no one was seriously injured,” Cheng said.

Witnesses at an apartment complex told investigators the bus appeared to be speeding up, Cheng said.

The 20 people on board the bus, 04 children and three adults, were taken to hospitals . The children were between 1 and 16 years old.

It is not clear how fast the driver was going, but the speed limit speed on the highway was 16 mph, Cheng said.

The driver is likely to receive a citation, but investigators are still determining whether charges can be filed in the case, Cheng said.

This accident occurs one week after a fatal episode, where a university student was killed and more than a dozen other passengers, in addition to the driver, were injured when the bus in which they were returning from a hockey game collided with a tree in the suburbs of Boston.

The preliminary investigation suggested that the vehicle was returning to Brandeis University after the game at Northeastern University in Boston when it crashed.

A student died at the scene. The university identified her as Vanessa Mark, aged 16 years old.
