Shannon Ruth, a woman who suffers from autism and mild cerebral palsy, accused the singer Nick Carter of having raped her in 2022 when she was 14 years old, and through his Facebook account he gave a press conference together with the lawyer Mark Boskovich to recount the facts.
The alleged victim said that she does 17 years he met Carter -member of the group Backstreet Boys– after a concert in Tacoma, Washington. She approached him for an autograph and he invited her onto the tour bus, offering her a drink he called “VIP juice”. The attorney said that after Ruth ingested the drink, Carter took her to the bathroom, exposing his private parts to her and forcing her to perform sexual acts before taking her to the bed, where he raped her, despite her pleas to stop.
The woman -who cried for much of the conference and who seeks financial compensation through a civil lawsuit- claimed Nick gave her the HPV, called her a “retarded bitch” and left her with bruises. “Although I am autistic and living with cerebral palsy, I believe that nothing has affected me more in my life than what Nick Carter did to me. I hope that by going public today, other women find the courage to speak up and demand that they assume their responsibility”, she said.
In the last weeks Nick Carter has been very present in the headlines, both for the promotion of the new album by the Backstreet Boys (A very backstreet Christmas) and the death of his brother Aaron, on November 5th.
