However, sometimes they encounter rampant violence that plagues the countries through which they must pass. All these factors can lead to devastating results, such as what happened in Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, where an armed group attacked a truck in which dozens of migrants were traveling , and all were “lifted up” by the attackers. Due to the hail of bullets, the truck driver was injured in different parts of his body, for which he was transferred to a hospital for him to receive medical attention. According to the Diario de Juárez, the unit traveled around 36 migrants, mostly from Colombia and Venezuela, when the crew members of a car began to attack them, shooting at the truck’s tires and windows. After bursting the unit, the criminals climbed into it and took the migrants, according to the Secret Chihuahua Public Security Office, adding that a search operation was implemented, which resulted in the arrest of two people, presumably part of the truck attackers. In addition it was possible to rescue and protect some migrants . Just one day before the attack, the governor of Chihuahua, María Eugenia Campos, assured that there is no humanitarian crisis in the state due to the presence of migrants, since his government has installed asylums so that they can live. He added that the private initiative also offers jobs for migrants. However, in this border city violence is the common denominator for all those who they inhabit it, and migrants are not spared from it, as several of the shelters have been attacked by armed commandos.
