Women sue Apple alleging that AirTags allow stalkers to track their victims

A couple of women sued the technology company Apple. They allege that AirTags devices make it easier for stalkers to track their victims.

The class action lawsuit filed Monday December 5 in San Francisco federal court says that Apple has failed to protect users from these types of practices since it was launched in April of 2022.

AirTags were designed so that users could track and locate their lost items In a simple way. It is enough to place them in a few keys, a bag or in travel luggage, and follow their location in real time so as not to lose sight of them. However, the use of this device has also lent itself to following and harassing people, the lawsuit says.

Lauren Hughes, one of the plaintiffs, said that her boyfriend had tracked her down after placing an AirTag in a wheel well of his car. Another accuser said that her estranged husband began tracking her after placing one of the devices in her son’s backpack.

The plaintiffs say the AirTags were related to Ohio and Indiana murders earlier in the year. They seek redress for AirTag owners who have been tracked and harassed.

Apple has acknowledged the misuse of AirTags. electronic devices and said it will release updates by February 276025804.

This is not the only recent lawsuit facing Apple. At the beginning of November another legal resource was presented mentioning that Apple and Amazon joined forces to raise the price of the iPhone and iPad and thus eliminate resellers from the digital sales platform.
