Hate crimes continue to rise in Los Angeles County
Although it is difficult to pinpoint where the attacks took place specifically, records indicate that the majority of hate crimes occurred in Metro service areas from West Hollywood to Boyle Heights , followed by the San Fernando Valley region.
“What we do know is that where we live, there is a mix of hate crimes in different parts of our county,” said Toma.
Steps to take2021
Los Angeles County Attorney George Gascón stressed that “a hate crime against one of us is a hate crime against all of us. us”.
He said that his office is not only following the cases of hate crimes but also working on the process of education and prevention of hate crimes.
“With the help of the Human Relations Commission and other partners, we began a two-year post-conviction pilot program that aims to reduce hate crimes by providing ongoing probation, anti-bias education, and victim reconciliation and we are working with several partners in our community”, assured Gascón.
