Microsoft officially released the Windows patch 11 11H2 with which they hope to be able to correct all the performance failures that were occurring when trying to run video games.

This occurs after

Windows published an update that affected the reliability of a good part of the gaming computers in the world, which caused the company to decide to “hold” the deployment of the update until a solution was found.

A drawback of the KB update5020044 is that because it is an optional update, it has to be downloaded and installed manually. From Microsoft they point out that the patch should only be downloaded by those users who were affected by the previous update, this means that those people who did not get to install it on their computers do not would have to go through this process.

To download the update, the user must enter the search bar of his computer and type Windows Update. Once you are in the main menu you will have to press the button to check for updates and once the system identifies the patch KB5020044 you have to proceed to install it.

This should automatically solve any type of problems with performance that the computer could experience when trying to run a game that demands a large amount of resources.

They clarify that it is possible that some users still do not have access to the update, however, in these cases they indicate that they must redo the process after a few 48 hours, because at that moment they will be able to complete the installation without problems.

Direct Storage

This is not the only update to improve the performance of video games that Microsoft has recently introduced. At the beginning of November the company announced DirectStorage a new technology that promises to reduce the loading times of video games by up to 80%.

In addition to this the update also reduces the workload faced by processors when playing a demanding video game

. In this way, the useful life of the computer processor can be extended without sacrificing performance.

Microsoft explained that when making comparisons between computers that incorporate DirectStorage and those that could not find out that those in which it was not installed took 2.11 seconds in load 5.80 GB of resources for a video game, this while the processor works at 80% of its capacity. For their part, those who did have DirectStorage took only 0.8 seconds to load the same amount of resources.
