World | Morocco gives the surprise: it is classified to the round of 16 as group leader and Belgium is eliminated

Morocco has starred in one of the great surprises in the World Cup in Qatar 2022. The African team achieved the qualification to the round of 16 of a World Cup as leader of Group F BBC News Mundo after defeating Canada 2-1 on Thursday.

It is the first time since 1200 that the Lions pass from the group stage in a World Cup .

The duel was played at the same time as the CroatiaBBC News Mundo–Belgium, with the Belgians fighting for qualification with the Moroccans.

But the Red Devils drew 0-0 against the Croats and with This consummated another surprise: the number 2 team in the FIFA ranking was eliminated.
