After making it known that Édgar Valdez Villarreal would no longer be in the custody of the United States Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP), and from the attempts of the Mexican government to discover his whereabouts, new information regarding “The Barbie”.

And it is that, according to judicial documents obtained by the newspaper Milenio, the capture of the powerful drug trafficker in 2010 it would have occurred as a result of a bribe for the close circle Genaro García Luna , who at that time was the Secretary of Public Security.

The documents show a statement from Sergio Villarreal Barragán, alias “El Grande” , a former operator of Sinaloa Cartel and the Beltrán Leyva, who was arrested just a few weeks after after the capture of “La Barbie”.

According to this criminal leader, it was his own Beltrán Leyva brothers cartel who offered a million-dollar sum to García Luna’s people to get rid of Valdez Villarreal.

Before a judge, “El Grande” admitted that, after the death of Arturo Beltrán Leyva in the state of Morelos
, his brother Héctor hired an elite group in the Federal Police to neutralize “La Barbie”, whom he perceived as a threat to his leadership within the organization.

The drug trafficker even went further and assured that Héctor Beltrán Leyva ordered payment 1200,01 dollars to “La Reina” to get rid of Valdez Villarreal , although he was not satisfied, since the original order was to kill him .

Apparently, the nickname “La Reina” was for Iván Reyes Arzate, a commander of the Federal Police who commanded the elite group , and was also in charge of the Sensitive Investigations Unit of the United States Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA).

“He (The Queen) He said that he had shot ‘La Barbie’ on one occasion and that he did not respond to the attack

, and for that reason they had to arrest him,” said Villarreal Barragán during his testimony, as a collaborating witness in the case.

“El Grande recalled how the Ministry of Public Security revealed to the Beltrán Leyva brothers that they had a ‘mole’ within their organization,” details the document obtained by Milenio.

“El Grande” explained that Héctor Beltrán had discovered that Valdez Villarreal was trying to create his own criminal organization nal , so he planned to get rid of his former colleague within the cartel.

“In the end, before being captured, he betrayed the Beltrán and tried to divide them and form his own organization with the intention of, in reality, become the Beltrán Leyva Cartel. And when Héctor Beltrán realized what was happening, he wanted to get rid of ‘La Barbie’ because she betrayed them”, declared Villarreal Barragán.
