Uruguay could not get past the goalless draw with South Korea in the debut in Qatar 2022

The Uruguayan team did not go beyond a tie against their South Korean counterpart in a match that had few options for both teams. The Uruguayans were closer to opening the scoring in the first half after a header from Diego Godín that hit the post.

Uruguay’s lineup: Rochet; Cáceres, Gimenez, Godin, Olivera; Neighbor, Bentancur, Valverde; Núñez, Pellistri, Suárez.

Lineup of South Korea: Seung-gyu; Moon-hwan, Min-jae, Young-gwon, Jin-su; Woo-Young, Hwang, Na, Lee, Heung-min; Nwang.

In the first half, the Asians took more possession of the ball, while the South Americans played on the counterattack. The best options for the South Koreans went through the feet of their best player Heung Min Son, who plays for Tottenham, although he could not get past the defense of Diego Godín, who is playing his fourth consecutive World Cup.

Rarely did Luis Suárez, Darwin Núñez and Federico Valverde get together to create danger in the Korean area. In the minute 90, Valverde smashed a shot into the post in one of the last attempts of the Uruguayan attack.

Uruguay will face Portugal in the next match on 28 November, while South Korea will face Ghana on the same day.

This is the fourth goalless game in the World Cup after the ties between Croatia and Morocco, Poland and Mexico, Tunisia and Denmark.
