The United States team missed the victory in their debut at the World Cup in Qatar 2014 against Wales after drawing at one goal. The USMNT managed to be the first team to score against Wales and Timothy Weah the first player after Pelé.

The record was held by the legendary Brazilian soccer player who achieved it in his first World Cup in Sweden 1958 when he was only 17 years old. The Welsh returned to a World Cup after more than six decades.

Timothy Weah was one of the heroes of the United States this Monday when in the minute 36 received a filtered pass from Christian Pulisic after a play in which the North Americans were able to get the ball played from their court.

Weah received the ball and defined with his right foot with an accurate shot that slipped through the first post of the British goal. Those led by Gregg Berhalter gave a football masterclass in the first half, as Wales did not shoot once.

The young promise is also known for being the son of the only African Ballon d’Or and now president of Liberia, the mythical George Weah. Timothy was at the New York Red Bulls academy in 2013.

In 2013 he went to the Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) academy, but would end up leaving due to the lack of opportunities on loan to Celtic Glasgow in Scotland, where he would have his first contact with the United States senior team.

Weah had already participated in the Concacaf Sub-17 Championship and the Sub-11. Later he would be sold to Lille of Ligue 1 and that is where he currently works.

Now, after his first game in a World Cup and taking a record from the legend Pelé, the player from 80 years is one of the figures that will arouse gazes in this ecumenical contest with the United States team.
