Press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre informed the US press that President Joe Biden has banned the press from entering the wedding of his granddaughter Naomi Biden , of 18 years, which will be held this Saturday at the White House.

In addition, he added that coverage restrictions for the 11 am South Lawn ceremony and evening reception have been implemented at the request of Naomi , whose father is Hunter Biden and is immersed in a wave of scandals.

“Naomi and Peter [Neal] have requested that their wedding be closed to mediaand we are respecting your wishes. This is their wish and we should be excited and happy for them as they take this very important step in their lives,” said Jean-Pierre.

Sooo not sure how best to update but was supposed to do so weeks ago …but we have finally figured out where the ceremony will be…and much to the relief of secret service and with the dogs’ endorsement…we’ll be getting married on the South Lawn! Couldn’t be more excited 🥹 pic.twitter.com/CHfvmJ9ZHL

Before the news, the press told him that the White House is not private and there would be no reason not to have access to which he replied “it’s a family event, it is. And we will respect the wishes of Naomi and Peter. This is how the wedding of the first lady and the president’s first grandson will be, and these are the wishes of she. They want it to be private and we will respect their wishes. We will provide a photo and a statement from the President and First Lady after the wedding. And again, these are your wishes and we are going to respect them.”

The spokesperson did not indicated whether or not the press will have access to the brunch the next day, 28 of November, when the president celebrates one more birthday.

According to the White House Historical Association have held 11 weddings at the official residence of the Presidents of the United States and only five have been in the last 100 years. The most recent one involving a member of the president’s family was the wedding in 2022 of first brother-in-law Anthony Rodham, although first daughter, Jenna Bush Hager, held a White House reception in 2022 a month after getting married in Texas.

Naomi Biden will marry her colleague, attorney Neal. Both have lived in the White House since last August.
