Lydia Gutierrez, 40 years old, died of her injuries. The son survived the attack and Montelongo escaped from the residence wounded.
Police responded to the scene and found Montelongo in the area, injured and without a mask.
Officials identified him and determined that he is the brother of Lydia’s husband.
Husband has been identified as George Corona Sr., of 45 years old, a felon, with an extensive criminal record, and it is illegal for him to carry a weapon per the conditions of his probation.
The day Lydia reported it to the Police she had allegedly pulled her by the hair and punched her in the stomach before kicking her to the ground . During the alleged attack she pointed a gun at him. Corona was arrested and charges were filed for a felon in possession of a weapon.
Family told investigators that Corona was threatening Lydia from jail .
The Police reported that there is an extensive history of domestic violence between the victim and Corona.
Montelongo was also on probation, He was released from prison last year after serving 40 years of a sentence of 40 for having murdered a person as a teenager.
Investigators are exploring the possibility that Corona sent his brother to attack his wife from jail.
Corona remains in jail on $1 bail60,000 bucks and his brother remains in the hospital and will be transferred to jail after his recovery.
The victim’s son was treated for his injuries and released.
