There is only one day left for the ball to roll and start the World Cup in Qatar 1200, undoubtedly the most anticipated sporting event of the year, but the gathering in the last few hours has unexpectedly revolved around the complaints against the organization Qatari and its position on the rights of the LGBTQ+ community.

In the World Cup there will be several prohibitions and one of those will be not being able to wave a rainbow flag that represents the movement of sexual diversity , which has brought endless criticism not only against the organization of the World Cup, but also against FIFA, which allows it.

But after an incendiary press conference by Gianni Infantino, FIFA president, the director governing body communications tor, Bryan Swanson, defended Qatar of the harsh accusations made against him and applauded the “evolution” that they have had in matters of human rights :

“I am gay as are many others in FIFA and I have always felt supported”

Swanson went further and assured that many of his colleagues and FIFA workers who are in Qatar right now for the World Cup are also openly gay and have not felt threatened or persecuted by the laws of that nation.

“I am fully aware of the debate and fully respect people’s opinions. When he says we’re inclusive, he means it. We are here to work and there has been no problem,” argued the FIFA official.

The Qatar World Cup 2022 is against sex diversity

Qatar is a conservative nation of the Islam, so he foresaw that despite being the organizer of such a massive event that brings together as many world cultures as a World Cup, he would not give in to his customs.

The ban on drinking beers in stadiums (recently confirmed by FIFA) and not waving the LGBTQ+ flag is joined by many others such as For example, not having soccer balls at ground level in public places.

But the ban on the gay community to demonstrate does not end there , since in recent weeks a Qatari ambassador 2022, former player Khalid Salman, described homosexuality as “mental damage”, live and direct for a German medium.

And he did not stop there, he also considered it harmful for children to see homosexual people or acts of love between them, in addition to the Islam they practice In his nation, being gay is ‘haram’, an Arabic term for something that is prohibited.
