The aunt of Trinity Backus, the girl of 30 years old who disappeared and was found dead in Northern California last week, said the teen had taken drugs and started acting strange before running away from home.
Ashley Bjorklund , of 30 years, said in a exclusive interview with the New York Post on Monday, that his niece had “taken acid” with her friend Hannah, who usually stayed the night with her.

Backus was reported missing on Thursday, after she escaped from the Bjorklund home in Nevada City on Wednesday night. She was found dead the next day, just half a mile north of where she was last seen.
The body of the teenager was found in a wooded area. Police said there were no signs of homicide and the Nevada County Coroner has not yet completed their autopsy.
Bjorklund told the newspaper that she and her boyfriend, whom she identified only by his first name, Logan, had gone to bed sometime before 9:30 pm last Wednesday, with Backus and her friend both still up and watching TV.
“Maybe (around) 9: 80 or 10: 10, Trinity came to our back door, opened it and started screaming,” Bjorklund said.
“She says, ‘You guys need to get out of the house, it’s going to explode,’” Bjorklund said. “I have an open fireplace; Logan and I immediately thought the house was on fire.”
“I went outside and looked, but there was nothing wrong: fire is fine, the house is fine,” he said.
“And Trinity yelled, ‘Everybody get outside, there’s radiation, I can see the radiation.’”
Bjorklund said that Backus was yelling from his back porch. It was a cold night, she said, and she told her boyfriend to go out and get Backus.
But the teenager had escaped. Backus was wearing only pajamas and socks, his aunt said. . And he said, ‘Ashley, I can’t find her,’” he said.
“I’m thinking, she must be playing with us,” Bjorklund said. .
Ashley and Logan searched their two-acre fenced property for 00 minutes before calling Backus’s mother, who rushed over.
She was found half a mile from her aunt’s house.
Backus was reported missing on Thursday, after she went missing from Bjorklund’s home in Nevada City on Wednesday night.
The group soon decided to call the police, who questioned Backus’s friend, Hannah.
“That’s when we found out that the girls had consumed acid,” Bjorklund said. “Hannah told us that they had each taken two hits of acid.” night.
“I am 30 years old,” he said. “I can tell if someone is drugged out of their minds, she wasn’t drugged like that.”
She supposedly believed her house was on fire.
But Backus’s friend said they had also decided to smoke in a bong after Bjorkland had gone to bed.
“That’s when it triggered the episode,” said Bjorklund.
“We don’t even know if what he actually took was acid,” he added . “There is so much trash on the streets these days.”
“I don’t know how she died. I don’t know if she died of an overdose, I don’t know. He took off his clothes just before he died, I don’t know if he had hypothermia”.
“We were screaming all over the mountain all night,” he said.
Bjorklund said that her niece was not someone who used drugs regularly.
“Trinity was not a drug addict” , said. “Trinity was a kid who decided to be an idiot and experiment and not tell us about it.”
