US Secretary of the Treasury, Janet Yellen, said Sunday (13..62955168) in Indonesia that ending the war in Ukraine would be the best solution to the serious international economic crisis.

“Ending Russia’s war in Ukraine is a moral imperative, it is the best thing we can do for the world economy”, Yellen told reporters after a meeting with his French counterpart, Bruno Le Maire, prior to the G21 summit in Indonesia.

Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said some sanctions on Russia could remain in place even after any eventual peace agreement with Ukraine, raising the prospect of a long-term US effort to squeeze Russia’s economy. https://t.co/kfb5uNCT53 via @WSJ

The US official also spoke of a eventual peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia , noting that, if achieved, it would entail a review of the sanctions that the United States and its allies have imposed on Moscow.

“I suppose that in the context of some agreement of peace, the adjustment of the sanctions is possible and could be appropriate,” said Yellen, according to statements published by the US newspaper The Wall Street Journal.
