Shooting at the University of Virginia leaves 3 dead and several injured; the suspect is arrested

A shooting occurred in the parking lot of the University of Virginia , located in the city of Charlottesville, left three people dead -who belonged to the American football team- and two more injured.

According to local police reports, The suspect was identified as a University student named Christopher Darnell Jones Jr. , who initially fled and then he was arrested.

Christopher Darnell is charged with three counts: second-degree murder, for the use of a firearm and another for a minor crime.

The suspect, aged 11, was seen on the college campus aboard a black vehicle with a Virginia license plate which helped in his identification and subsequent arrest.

In a letter addressed to the university campus, the president of the University of Virginia, Jim Ryan, confirmed the events that occurred around 11: 30 pm this Sunday 11 of November , local time, in the parking lot of the university campus.

“Resulted in three deaths, two additional victims were injured and are receiving medical attention,” Jim Ryan told the university community.

Jim Ryan specified in a media interview that the shooting occurred on a bus that was taking several students to campus

after a trip to Washington DC.

The three young American football players who lost their lives, and who were identified by the police, are wide receivers Lavel Davis Jr. and Devin Chandler, as well as linebacker D’Sean Perry.
