Iran Sanctions CIA and US National Guard for Inciting “Violence and Unrest”

The Iranian Foreign Ministry announced sanctions against persons and entities of United States, including the Central Intelligence Agency ( CIA , for its acronym in English), for inciting “the violence and riots” in Iran , in the midst of a wave of protests after the death of the young woman Mahsa Amini.

Sanctions apply to “ ten individuals and four entities for carrying out activities against human rights, interfering in the internal affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, inciting violence and unrest in Iran, and inciting terrorist acts,” according to the Iranian Ministry. .

These measures are directed, among others, against the boss of the central command of the US Army (CENTCOM), Michael Corella, the CIA and the National Guard American National. They involve the prohibition of granting travel and entry visas to Iran and the “freezing of their properties and assets” in this country, the source reported.

Washington announced the 26 October sanctions against Iranian officials and companies for their violent crackdown on recent protests.

Iran has been shaken by massive demonstrations since the death on September 16 of Mahsa Amini, an Iranian Kurdish woman from 22 who died three days after his arrest by the moral police, for allegedly violating the dress code of the Islamic Republic.
