The World Sub-17 from 2011 left great memories for the Mexican fans. El Tri achieved the spectacular feat of lifting the World Cup youth trophy. Great expectations left those soccer players of the Mexican National Team. Julio Gómez was one of the most acclaimed pieces of that template, but after 11 years of that historic tournament, The present of “The Mummy” is very different from the one foreseen by the Aztec followers.

Julio Gómez was the author of a spectacular Chilean goal in that World Cup against the German National Team for the semifinals of the tournament. “The Mummy” was one of the great promises of Aztec football, but with 17 years old does not even make a life in professional football.

“After being a professional player, one wants to continue playing soccer, and I think that these tournaments help a lot to stay active and even more so in tournaments such as the Copa Alianza. As Every footballer has cycles in life, the truth is I take it very seriously, in any field that I stop to play I always try to win and give my best ”, assured Gómez in an interview for El Chute TV.

The race of “The Mummy”

Reports indicate that after the World Cup, indiscipline was part of the life of that young Mexican promise . Gómez was even branded as a rebellious soccer player. In his short career, “La Momia” went through multiple clubs without being able to establish himself in any of them. The former Mexican soccer player wore the shirt of Chiapas, Zacatepec, Correcaminos de la UTA, Chivas de Guadalajara, Cafetaleros de Chiapas, Pachuca and Coras de Nayarit, the latter with greater participation.
