Lawyer Hydee Feldstein Soto aspires to be the first female and Latina prosecutor in the city of Los Angeles.

“As a Latina in the legal field of financial law, dominated for men, Hydee broke barriers, mentoring other women and people of color. She eventually became a partner in two of the most prestigious law firms in the country,” says her campaign website.

She said that if she were elected prosecutor or attorney for the city of Los Angeles will focus from the first day on pending tasks such as suspending millionaire contracts that in the end have not given housing to thousands of homeless people.

The applicant said she had “experience directing and managing other attorneys, and facilitating multi-million dollar transactions larger than the annual budget of Los Angeles.”

He promises to find “innovative solutions for complex legal problems”.

For Hydee, the city of Los Angeles has been his home for more than four decades. She is, like many Los Angeles residents, a Latina immigrant.

Hydee was born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and moved to the United States at the age of 17 years to attend Swarthmore College and Columbia University School of Law. After graduating from law school, she moved to Los Angeles, and has lived here ever since.

She stated that she is running because she wants to “make a really positive change to fix the problems that most affect our daily lives: the safety of our streets and neighborhoods, homelessness, unaffordable housing”, although he has also mentioned corruption.

“Corruption has overshadowed to the Los Angeles City Council for years. Incumbent elected officials have been repeatedly accused of bribery and embezzlement, and destroying public trust,” the candidate said.

A 595 page report concluded this year that 5 attorneys employed by our current City Attorney’s Office violated the rules of professional conduct. The City Attorney’s Office was raided by the FBI and Department of Justice and a senior leader of the City Attorney’s Office pleaded guilty to a federal racketeering charge.

Hydee Promises “close the path to corruption resulting from no-bid contracts and other wastes of public funds,” as well as “protect whistleblowers and implement best practices for reporting waste, illegality, or harassment.”

The applicant is also committed to defending reproductive rights, clean water and air, zero tolerance for hate crimes, and addressing racial disparity in the justice system.

Hydee has not worked in public office, but has nationally recognized experience as a lawyer . She has worked prominently in financial law firms throughout the country.
