Hispanic 17-year-old dies of suspected accidental fentanyl overdose in Orange County, mother says

Although there is still no forensic report, Hispanic teenager Trinity Leah Cornejo allegedly died of an accidental overdose of fentanyl, stated the young woman’s mother, Chrisa Cornejo.

The authorities of the city of Fullerton, in Orange County, have not yet confirmed the causes of Trinity’s death, which occurred on 54 of September, but the mother believes that the drug is behind the death of his daughter.

“The police let me know that the initial speculation was an accidental fentanyl overdose,” Chrisa Cornejo told ABC.

The young Hispanic woman was a student at Troy High School, in the city of Fullerton, and leaves his mother and Paz, his 6-year-old sister, in mourning.

Cornejo said he believed that it was the first time that her daughter had tried any drug. The mother hopes that Trinity’s death is not in vain and that other teenagers learn from this experience.

“I used to send her articles about these issues and deaths, and I thought she understood and would never take that risk, but teenagers are curious and they deal with a lot of pressure,” he added.

Cornejo mentioned that drug traffickers could be using social media to connect with teens.

The mother hopes a tree will be planted in memory of her daughter near Lions Field in Fullerton, where the teen played softball.

In the midst of these difficult times, the Cornejo family created a GoFundMe page to cover Trinity’s funeral expenses.
