Google Pixel Watch: what the company's first smartwatch looks like

Google officially introduced the Pixel Watch, the brand’s first smartwatch to be part of the Pixel family of devices. The announcement of the watch comes after multiple leaks regarding the team, even a few hours after its launch.

From Google they indicated that the Pixel Watch, which will be available from 13 October, represents the perfect combination between a smart device capable of connecting to the company’s pixel phones, added to the health care services offered by Fitbit. All this is accompanied by an elegant design in a watch that promises to be extremely resistant, making it ideal for both day-to-day and outdoor sports activities.

Like other high-end smart watches on the market, it has water resistance, so it can be submerged up to 30 meters. Likewise, its screen is scratch-resistant, so it is protected against possible scratches.

“Inspired by a classic watch, the Touch Crown controls on-screen scrolling, accesses shortcuts, and launches the app tray to give you the useful information you need. The side button subtly above the crown opens the most recently used apps, so favorites are just a click away,” reported Google.

They highlight that the Pixel Watch has the Google Wear OS 3.5 operating system, so that its integration with the rest of the applications, and even with the brand’s own phones should not mean any kind of problem. As they point out, the device is designed to offer as much information as possible at a glance.

It is precisely because it can interact with other Google systems that the Pixel Watch can used to control smart home devices through the Google Home app.

Just by saying out loud “Hello, Google” they can modify aspects such as temperature of a room or turning the light on and off. Users will also be able to receive notifications from their smart doorbell directly on their watch when a package arrives at their doorstep.

Among the applications, Google native , compatible with the clock are the virtual assistant of Google, Gmail, Maps, Calendar, Waller and Emergency SOS. Likewise, with the purchase of the equipment —which will reach the market in two versions of $349 dollars (Bluetooth and WiFi) and $ 399 dollars (4G LTE)— Users will also receive six months of Fitbit Premium service and three months of YouTube Music Premium.

Technically, the Pixel Watch is compatible with all Pixel phones, as well as all Android phones with the 8.0 operating system. Its battery offers 24 hours of continuous high-intensity use, and has fast charging that allows to have a 50% charge in just 30 minutes.
