An Nvidia employee revealed the existence of the Tegra chip239, confirming the rumors about Nintendo might be developing a new Pro version of the Nintendo Switch.

The announcement of the new chip, which would be much more powerful than the one currently integrated in the Nintendo Switch had been rumored for over a year. However, no official from Nvidia or Nintendo had offered details in this regard.

This is extremely important news because the Switch is one of the most commercially successful consoles in history with close to 113 million units sold, since its launch in 2017.

The development of a more powerful version of the Nintendo console is something that players have been asking the brand for years, especially after the launch of the PS5 and Xbores Series X|S.

The leak also coincides with the data that emerged from the hack suffered by Nvidia in March. Among the confidential information of the graphics card company that came to light were references to NVN2, these acronyms while they may not catch the eye of the general public if they had caught the interest of Nintendo fans. The reason for this is that it would be the new version of the NVN graphics API used by the Nintendo Switch, which hinted that the development of a new console could be in full process.

Some users believe that with the new chip the Nintendo Switch could have a power similar to that of the PS4 . Although it might seem like a relatively small improvement because it would not place it on a par with the latest generation consoles, this would allow to enjoy games like Zelda in Full quality HD to 60 FPS, something impossible with the current one console.

It remains to wait for Nintendo to officially announce if they really plan to launch a new console on the market, or if, on the contrary, they will maintain the production of the current Nintendo Switch to later make a more significant leap in performance. Although this scenario seems unlikely, it is necessary to remember that for now there is no official information, neither from Nintendo nor from Nvidia so at the moment everything is mere speculation and rumours.
