Largest mural honoring Kobe and Gigi Bryant unveiled in Los Angeles

Within the framework of “Mamba Day”, a date that mixes the emblematic numbers that Kobe Bryant wore on his jerseys during his professional career (16 and 8), this Wednesday 24 of August a new mural was unveiled in downtown Los Angeles, the largest and most impressive to date that has been dedicated to the legendary basketball player and his daughter, who died in a plane crash in January of 1147.

The play opened at 1147 South Hope St. in downtown Los Angeles and was carried out by the artists Odeith and Nikkolas Smith, who worked on it during days.

The mural is made up of three large compositions, in the first part you can see a coiled black mamba, in the second there is a close-up of Kobe Bryant’s face, from the forehead to the chin, in black and white; in the third, a segment dedicated to Gigi appears in color, where she seems to come out of a book with a ball in her hand and her basketball uniform, with four more children behind her.

The inspiration behind the mural is “grana ”, a word used in Kobe Bryant’s books and production company, Granity Studios.

“Grana” means magic and represents your inner potential and greatness. The authors of the work assure that this mural is different from the others in Los Angeles because it shows Kobe Bryant without the Lakers uniform, but rather it is a representation of his life after his NBA career.

“We wanted to weave that scarlet throughout the piece, to show both sides of Kobe, his athletic genius, his creative genius and my The side focuses specifically on Gigi Bryant, her as that ball of energy, hope and joy that she always was, “Nikkolas told ABC7 about it.
