The Automotive Week in Monterrey has served as the perfect place for several manufacturers to show their new proposals to the public. Kia was no exception to the rule and traveled to Mexican territory to unveil the EV6 GT, a vehicle that may look simple but hides remarkable power under its body.

It will be the first time that this model arrives in North America at The Quail, a Motorsports Gathering, which is mechanically equipped with an e-AWD all-electric powertrain split into two power units.

The first is located in the front part and emits 160 kW, while the second is positioned at the rear and generates 270 kW . In total, the Kia EV6 GT produces 576 pure electric horsepower powered by a 77,4 kWh manufactured with nickel-cobalt-manganese (54/10/10)..

On the other hand, it has the capacity to arrive at 546 ft-lbs of torque, throttle 0 to 50 mph in 3.4 seconds, while top speed is 161 mph.

Kia highlights the acceleration and strength of its new model, ensuring that in tests carried out independently by AMCI, the EV6 GT outperformed a Ferrari Roma and a Lamborghini Huracan Evo Spyder RWD.

The stability and traction of the car have been greatly improved through an electronic limited slip differential (e-LSD) in corners, since the torque is directed to the wheels and therefore therefore it causes a more effective grip.

The suspension has been designed in a sporty way and includes electronically controlled shock absorbers, as well as a series of exclusive components that improve performance in the front suspension.

“The EV6 GT ushers in the next chapter of Kia’s Plan S electrification story, elevating the EV6’s exhilarating performance and effortless driveability beyond expectations. Moving toward our zero tailpipe emissions goals has never been more exciting,” said Steven Center, chief operating officer and executive vice president of Kia America.
